  • [News] Forum Upgrade 10.08.16

Hey everyone the new forum version is up.

Allot of improvements and bug fixes for the mobile and responsive versions (including the messenger).

    So lets get started:

    1) Mentioning someone with an @ now will include his avatar too
    idle KateD XSteveO NoelO

    2) The "Mark Channels Read" link has been removed from the Forum sub-navigation on new installs. This link has proved problematic and hasn't worked consistently. A new "Mark Channels Read" link has been added to the bottom of the Forum List on the Forum page. Individual forums have their own link at the bottom of the page. The original sub-navigation link will remain on upgraded sites.

Topic Preview has been updated. This is to prevent a double-click requirement that some individuals experienced. Entering topics should only require a single click of the mouse.

    3) Responsive Improvements
New dropdown menu components are now used throughout the system to bring consistency and increase usability in responsive modes. In addition to this, some buttons were not applying the proper CSS. These have been updated.
Finally, when viewing an article section, the layout of articles should adapt to the screen size better. On devices with small screens, they will show as one column regardless of the display columns setting. This improves the usability of the article channels in vBulletin 5.

By the way thank you for getting that IP blocker thing removed...not sure if it was an anti-spam thing or not but it was such a hassle. Sometimes when I get a forum addiction (spending too long on the forum) I've noticed the server blocks my IP address for several hours and I usually can't access/see the forum until I wait out the time period. I haven't noticed it lately so thank you for making it more flexible

I just thought of this cool thing where we make idle a super hero

Since he is all tech; he can be COMPUTER MAN! NO LAME

I think he should be totally made of electricity where he can diffuse into circuits and fix stuff

Now we need a cool costume to go with this concept

      I found a graphic on

      https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F...ure_proton.svg

So there may be some copyright issues about modifying it like citing the author. But perhaps we could modify it by writing "idlebg" across it. It is a representation of quarks, which I think are the smallest known particles.

Remember if you want to work on it, please check the link about any copyright issues and citing the author of this graphic above. You are free:

I don't know about things like modifying and citing the author.

Dear friends and fellow community members,

It is with regret, that I inform you of a breach that's affected our community forum. I reported publicly (Security Notice) of a potential VB5 vulnerability that allowed the malicious injection of a zero-day exploit. This exploit was detected and quickly corrected, but unfortunately, it does now appear some emails and subsequent passwords were leaked. VBulletin passwords are stored in an encrypted database however and typically reported as...

  • Security Vulnerability Detected and Corrected!
    by XSteveO
    Dear Community Members,

End of September 2019 a security vulnerability was detected for VBulletin 5 (VB5) that would allow hackers to inject bad-stuff into a community forum such as ours. The hack, a zero-day vulnerability, allows the hacker to gain control over the server the forum is on. As such, patches have been issued and already installed on our discoverXS community forum.

All of the Aser Gruppe servers and websites use a series of security measures that monitor,...
