  • 8 Hours of lost posts, messages - UGH!

Last night we added a new back up service to our server to ensure we never lose data. The old back up service we used didn’t actually back up databases. The short and skinny of it is we had to restart the server to get it going and somehow vbulleitin crashed in the process. We lost all posts, PM’s everything from 2 am CST 10/3 until it came back up around 7:30 pm 10/3

Of course I realize this sucks. I answered lots of messages and replied to a bevy of posts.

The good news is I have been counting posts all day as they appear for the contest. I am 99% positive I got them all. I can say with certainty that everything up until 5 pm CST yesterday was counted. If you made a post after that and have that qualifying order, please contact me. I’ll make sure you get added.

Better news is the backup service is working and we are still manually backing up for a couple days just to be sure. Idle can explain more of the tech stuff if needed.

First drawing is Sunday at 2 pm and we already have quite a slew of entrants. I’m excited.

      Hey all,
here is a little bit more tech info:
during the installation of our new enterprise back up solution we had to physically shut down our server for 3 minutes.
After booting up vBulletin 5 software corrupted its own database. We notified the developers of vBulletin 5 as this corruption is more like a bug from their coding than the actual reboot.

As Steve explained we lost 8 hours of database data from discoverXS.

Now we are up and running with a brand new Idera Enterprise-Class Server Backup solution

If you have any question i am here for you

Sorry for any inconvenience that we might caused.

  • Security Vulnerability Detected and Corrected!
    by XSteveO
    Dear Community Members,

End of September 2019 a security vulnerability was detected for VBulletin 5 (VB5) that would allow hackers to inject bad-stuff into a community forum such as ours. The hack, a zero-day vulnerability, allows the hacker to gain control over the server the forum is on. As such, patches have been issued and already installed on our discoverXS community forum.

All of the Aser Gruppe servers and websites use a series of security measures that monitor,...
