Every year Autism Speaks organizes a large walk in Columbus, OH as a fundraiser to help enhance the lives of people living with autism. This year, 2018, they were able to raise nearly $388,000!

As part of the walk, many of the teams [have] custom t-shirts made. This year team Walking With Calin contacted us for their very own custom t-shirts.

We worked with the team leader to come up with a design for their shirts, and they turned out great!

Visionary7903 what if we suspect a friend's child to have Autism? How does a casual friend broach the subject? Do we drop hints, or flat out tell them?

Thanks to Visionary for his tireless efforts in bringing attention to this issue. Society tends to discount things until it affects them personally.

I've added a list of things to look out for in toddlers who you suspect might have Autism.

                      https://www.parents.com/toddlers-pre...m-in-toddlers/

Here are other early signs of autism in toddlers, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
                      • Not walking
                      • Speaking less than 15 words
                      • Never using two-word sentences
                      • Seeming confused by the function of common household objects, such as a telephone, fork, and spoon
                      • Not responding to her name
                      • Not imitating your actions or words
                      • Being unable to push a wheeled toy
                      • Playing inappropriately with toys
                      • Not following simple instructions
                      • Wanting to be alone
                      • Repeating words or phrases
                      • Engaging in ritualistic behavior: “You may notice that she’ll engage in repetitive motor movements, like hand slapping and staring at her fingers,” explains Thomas Frazier, PhD, a clinical psychologist, autism researcher, and chief science officer of Autism Speaks.
                      • Being uncomfortable with physical contact
                      • Not understanding feelings or emotions
                      • Regressing – or losing language skills and physical abilities

I would suggest you say maybe you think something isn't right and do some tests, the earlier it is handled the better the outcome, most austism isn't detected till at least 3 years old as is in my daughter/son case, she/he is now 28 lives on his/her own and works in a specialised center, if we hadn't of done anything things would of been different and it would of been meds and head banging!

Thank you for sharing. It's someone I have a whole lot of love for and I know it affects them, but not sure they are even aware of it. I have no idea how to bring it up either because it is so personal. There are a lot of caveats to this too.

If the little boy is lineing up cars in a straight line or sat watching the washing machine go round, you could maybe bring it up as "hey that's strange, never seen that before, maybe get it checked out without going into things, not all autists need meds, we refused for ours and hers/his autism was really bad in the beginning, but if we hadn't listened to our inner selves she would be sat in a day hospital today, so follow your heart and do what is right, even though she/he has an IQ of an 8 year old, she/he works in a special center with people around them, lives on his/her own, takes the bus is totally independant, obviously will never be able to drive, but when you are told right at the beginning when they are 3 that the only thing in life they would probably be able to do is read/write and count you know you have won!
