First time homeowner here.
The search for a house begins and today, visited some open houses (we: my family and I). I've noticed that a lot of these homes are beautiful (there's one in particular that my family really, really likes), but have been on the market for almost a year now.
If a home has been on the market for almost a year (or more), how likely is it that the broker would decrease the asking price? The showing specialist at one of the homes told us that if we wanted to remove the carpet, the cost could be deducted from the price. But what else?
What are some tips and tricks for negotiating asking prices? Hopefully this thread can help someone else as well!
