Valentine's Day - Finding truth beyond the expected (02/07/14 12:00 am)

Love is in the air. Thursday afternoon I received a text message from a close friend requesting my presence at a special occasion. He’s about to propose to his girlfriend and so naturally he wants all of his and her friends to share in this special moment.
I asked him why did he choose this night and not wait until Valentine’s Day? “Steve O” he said, “I really thought about it, but I wanted to have a day that symbolized my undying love for the girl I want to spend the rest of my life with. I wanted a day that means something to us, because its an ordinary day and not some made up holiday to sell flowers and candy. I wanted a day that says I love you no matter what day it is.” I am honored to share in this awesome occasion.
I like to be spontaneous in how I live. I take chances that many others wouldn’t. I live my life like everyday is a special holiday to symbolize my love for...whatever. You see, to me just like my closest friends, it doesn’t matter if its a special day on some calendar or advertisement dictating an occasion. Life is a celebration in itself and to embrace it with every ounce of myself, my passion, my soul, is to live it at its fullest.
Another very dear friend of mine, someone I consider a brother, asked me what he should do for his wife on Valentine's Day. Like many guys he isn’t really good at the whole romantic thing. I said I would think of something and here I am going to answer him in a newsletter in front of the entire world because as my mom would say I’m full of beans.
Instead of surprising her with the typical spa treatment, flowers, candy, dinner or the things that are expected you should do the unexpected. Starting on Monday cook her favorite meal. On Tuesday present her with a single red rose. Wednesday have a bottle of wine waiting for her when she gets home from work. Thursday, a small box of chocolates, and on Valentine’s Day, get yourself a hundred rose petals spread out on the bed, light candles, have a big bottle of wine, a whole box of candy and a dozen roses (all the individual stuff you gave her over the week, but new stuff and more). Set reservations for dinner at that swanky hotel you’ll be spending time together at. Its not over on Saturday though. Have breakfast in bed delivered and have a spa treatment ready for the afternoon. On Sunday spend some quality time doing something she likes to do and we both know what that is: shopping for toothpaste

The idea is don’t be predictable! Build up slowly but deliberately towards the special day, but don’t end it there. Each day should elicit an emotional response from her and have her wondering what the next will bring. Its a roller coaster ride on the emotional wonder train and its the quickest way to score points. Let her know how special everyday is with her.
Of course there are many different ways and different ideas. Spontaneity and a sense of adventure is my point. Break through what is expected and be your own person. Celebrate your life together, but do it everyday.
This brings me to the role that pheromones play in our lives. I design pheromone blends to be the very front seat on the newest, the most daring roller coaster ride. The amusement park is your life and you can either be the spectator as it passes by or on the rides scared out of their wits but completely embracing that fear. You will certainly come off those rides feeling more alive than you’ve ever felt.

I’m currently working on interviews with some other friends Alex Allman,Valentino X and Romeo (AskRomeo) along with others. I also hope to be able to bring to you interviews with Sean Stephenson, Anna Kendrick, Richard Branson, Oprah and others. While none of these others are confirmed, I believe with all my passion we are changing the world here and well, so anything is possible.
I hope your Valentine’s Day is special, but even more so, my wish is for your everyday to be special. May you find happiness in all that you do. The difference between those who dream all day and those who live their dreams everyday is the determination, the drive, effort, the willingness to get knocked on your ass and get right back up. Those who live their dreams fought to achieve them. Every dream begins with a first step.
